Close enough to share a field, without needing to be the same place.
On, known to the Greeks as Heliopolis, was one of the oldest cult centres of ancient Egypt, seat of the priesthood of Ra and, by long tradition, a school in which Pythagoras, Plato and Solon are each said to have studied. Its proximity to Giza — barely twenty kilometres distant — places it inside the same broad Nile Delta field as Area 1.
Two lamps set near each other on a table will overlap their light without either one losing its own flame; nearness does not erase distinctness, and a shared field does not make two points into one. On drew its own light from being close to Giza's, without needing to be Giza to matter in its own right.
