South Atlantic Anomaly — detail from the Natural Time Warp Wheel

The South Atlantic Anomaly is the one candidate in this pool with an actively studied, continuously remeasured position in mainstream geomagnetic science — a broad region of weakened magnetic field intensity tracked by satellite and ground magnetometer networks. Its published centroid has moved measurably over the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

This Book takes that motion seriously rather than freezing it at one coordinate. A real IGRF-13 geomagnetic model was used to compute the Area's true position at six historical epochs, 1900 through 2025, replacing an earlier illustrative estimate. The honest result, reported in full in Book II Chapter 32–33: no stable alignment with the fixed lattice across those real historical positions — a genuine negative finding, not a smoothed-over one.

Registration & Source The declared WGS84 research control (present epoch) is 27.500000°S, 50.500000°W. Spatial class: MOVING ZONE SAMPLE. The coordinate lies 3.000′ from its nearest 6′ eastward longitude line and 1.246′ from its nearest 7.5′ diagnostic latitude line. Full working, including the IGRF epoch reconstruction: Book II, Chapters 17 and 31–33.

This Area is one of the Twelve registered in Book II, The Natural Time Warp Areas. See The Natural Time Warp Wheel for the full identification table.
