A shoreline that outlived the lake that cut it.
The Great Salt Lake is the largest remnant of Pleistocene Lake Bonneville, a basin whose shoreline terraces are still visible on the surrounding mountains. Key 105's own Salt Lake Basin/Pyramid language names this Area directly, giving it comparable source standing to Takla Makan and Bermuda.
Lake Bonneville is gone; the Great Salt Lake is only what is left of it. But the mountains around the basin still carry its old shorelines, cut into the rock far above the present water — a boundary that can outlast the very thing that drew it, the way a mark left by an experience long since over can remain legible on a person for the rest of their life.
