Thesis Nine does not offer another programme for the reform of existing structures. It asks how New Groups may gather, decide and serve from the beginning, so that the freedom Thesis Eight asked of institutions is present at the first meeting rather than restored at the last. Every meeting is measured, in the end, by one thing: whether Life became more abundant because it took place.

It begins where the smallest gathering begins, with two or more, and follows the same living way of meeting outward, ring by ring, to the Family of Nations. Twelve Wellsprings, drawn from Christ Returns – Speaks His Truth, twelve Oases from the Compassionate Affairs Petition recorded in Memras 9 and 10, and twelve Ripples of shared life are offered as fields of contemplation for those who gather to serve — never as substitutes for legal, professional or democratic processes.

It is written for two or three friends who have begun to meet with a shared purpose, for households, circles, sanctuaries and cooperatives, and for those who carry responsibility in a city or a nation — and for anyone who has left too many meetings more tired than they arrived. The education of the new generation now follows in its own volume, Thesis Ten.
