Thesis Seven
The Posit of Freedom
Recognition in the ordinary day — whether the room we are given to be ourselves can become room we make for someone else.
Thesis Seven carries the 108 Relationships out of the experience of illness and into the whole of ordinary life. It belongs as much to the ordinary afternoon, the changing friendship, the first love and the newly imagined future as it does to uncertainty, loss or the wish for renewal. No one is asked to name a wound before they may enter.
Three Wheels offer thirty-three foundational definitions and a way of contemplating the 108 Relationships. Their biological vocabulary comes from the earlier Theses, but no earlier volume needs to have been read. Each entry begins with three questions, opens into a parable drawn from everyday life, reflects on what that parable may reveal, and closes with a Gestured Revelation: a short recognition the reader may keep, question or set aside.
One thread runs through the whole book. Thesis Six asked how a person might be received without condition. Thesis Seven asks what happens next — whether the freedom we receive wishes to end with us. The book calls this the Posit of Freedom, and it begins quietly, with the reader. Thesis Eight follows that freedom into the places where people decide together.
